It's got the best sign in town - a big neon pig. Until it sold about 3 years ago, it was worn out. It had a loyal, but older clientele, a dated menu, and it was due for renovation. Besides that, it was a barbecue restaurant that didn't have particularly good barbecue. The long time owner sold it to some younger guys who have a very successful fast food restaurant in Pasadena. Not a particularly good omen. Then they closed for a few months to renovate, typically not a good decision for a restaurant that changes hands. I didn't have high expectations. I was wrong. When Gus's re-opened, it was transformed into a hip BBQ joint. Stylish in a retro way, with a young and attentive staff, and most important, good barbecue. Its business has picked up and appears to be doing very well, notwhithstanding the current accessibility problems caused by the construction.

Check it out Judy, you'll like it.dbdubyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08462665006132459258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-11892338004228309012011-03-06T05:59:59.143-08:002011-03-06T05:59:59.143-08:00I like the bead board and the old fashioned booths...I like the bead board and the old fashioned booths.
