Noir Week (#6)

One of my favorite film professors in college taught that the simplest settings offer the most subtext. It's all in how you reveal (or don't reveal) the scene.

I'm getting mighty pretentious with Noir Week here at Glimpses, but it's all in good fun. Just a few more days of my darkness and light.

Beautiful deep focus thru the open window.

Nice!!! It's hard to balance between the light outside and the dark inside...your settings worked well!!!

Thanks, everyone. Remember the wonderful deep focus of Jean Renoir? Been trying to replicate it since college!

(this is not even close, but I'm getting better...)

And I should have said I've been trying to replicate Renoir's cinematographer Christian Matras. I think that was his name.

Gregg Toland would also be pleased with this homage! It's very Citizen Kane.

Nice work, LA.

Toland is another favorite!!!

Thanks, everyone.

I've enjoyed Noir Week very much! On this one, I like the (I think?) black and white cat in your black and white photo!

I agree, Adele!

Thank you so much!

Yes, my little noir cat even has a French name. (Mirabelle.)
