Storm Clouds

Nice of that woman to be walking with such a striking red coat just as the clouds parted...

(For Rialto fans, the clouds have still not parted. I'll repeat my update from the bottom of yesterday's post:

Pasadena Star News reports that Rialto sign can be saved if Landmark Theaters fund repairs. Officials from Landmark have not returned repeated calls for comment.

I'll say it again: write and let Landmark know how much the Rialto means to us. After all, there's power (and persuasion) in numbers. Just take a look at this.

I have been waiting up for your post. Jim and I have wondered several things which were answered in in Pasadena article, such as ...when does the lease expire...?

The link was terrific! The one at the bottom re letters to Santa Claus! Write, write, write!

Love the stormy sky and woman in her red coat. Certainly symbolic for sure.

Shanna, if you go back to my original Patch columns on the Rialto, I cover all of the current owner/lease information in more detail.

Good to know the PSN now knows something many of us already knew.

I wish the other journalists would look at all that you have written and produced about the Rialto before they write another story. Better yet, publish your pieces all over town and not just at Patch.

Your research is amazing and easy to understand and so insightful. Thanks, Laurie. Please keep fighting this good fight along with Escott Norton.

We really are serious about you talking to Cuban, you know. I've heard you give a great speech!

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much.

I definitely have lots of video footage to edit, but I will have another installment available soon. Plus, I'm still taking interviews. Email me if you want to be included. I'm recording your Rialto thoughts, memories, ideas about future plans...

For years I've sat on the sidelines and waited for something to be done about this situation. I just can't believe it has come to this and I believe it is time for all of us to pull out ALL the stops, make our voices heard to those who actually can help and brainstorm to find a way to save this beautiful theater.

Ambassador Hotel. Garden of Allah. Brown Derby. These were all parts of Los Angeles history that have fallen to the wrecking ball. (Don't even get me started on the buildings we've lost downtown. It's a wonder we still have the Oviatt and the Bradbury buildings. (By all means google them if you don't know what they are.)

Do we really need another strip mall with series of revolving nail/hair salons? That's what we'll get if the Rialto falls. Or worse. A parking lot. (So we can be sure to visit one of the nail/hair salons.)

It just can't happen. And we just can't sit by and hope for a knight in shining armor to swoop down and solve the problem. We might just have to solve it ourselves.

Thanks for joining the cause, gang. As always, I'll keep you posted with anything I learn.

Also, thanks Hugo for the kind words. And Judy, I knew you'd like this one! Diagonal line!

Good to see you, Cafe. :-)
