Fencing is a sport I never quite understood other than the phrase "en garde!"

This has so much more to it than just the pupil and teacher. There are two women chatting at a bistro table, beautiful trees, and soft green grass. I think it's interesting that the fire hydrant is a neon yellow.

Fencing is not a sight you see everyday here in St. Petersburg. Very interesting - and I agree with Judy - lots of interest going on in this image.

interestingly, based on body posture, I would have said the challenger in black was female, not young male.

Judy is right that there is so much more going on than the main event of the fencers. The fire plug, the women chatting, the pile of dishes in front of the sign, the red brick and the verdant green of the grass AND the SoPas street signs. I can almost feel the coolness of the shade with the sun bouncing off the brick.
