Winter White (#2)

These pear blossoms are too wonderful for just one post...

(In fact, these pear blossoms make me think of this, which makes me oddly think of this, and that has nothing to do with these pear blossoms at all.)

This is an incredibly beautiful photo Laurie. It makes me itch which means it has the right combination of elements to make me want to paint it

I was wondering what all this white blossom was. Now I know - it's pear! Early flowering trees like this provide food for the bees and hummers trying to get through our version of winter.

Thanks for putting up with my pear tree obsession, you guys. I just adore these trees.

Bellis, I get such a thrill seeing bees and hummers in January!

The cultivation of the pear in cool temperate climates extends to the remotest antiquity, and there is evidence of its use as a food since prehistoric times.
