Art in the Ordinary (#2)

I've given up trying to eat all of the roasted pumpkin seeds left over from our four Halloween jack-o-lanterns. (I've decided to photograph them instead...)

I tried to find a poem about pumpkin seeds and although quaint, they were all more cutesy than clever. I've always liked their shape. Almost like teardrops. Maybe there's a metaphor in there somewhere.

Me too. I think those seeds look like bird heads.

All you lookers who never comment. Why don't you do it?

I'm a lurker who rarely comments but I have to say that this is a very cool picture!

I love the blog.I'm just shy.

Bird heads? I am laughing, Dixie!

I always manage to either undercook or burn pumpkin seeds when I try to roast them. Is there some trick I need to know?

Michelle, dry the seeds first. Then toss in a little oil and roast in an oven no hotter than 350 for about 45-50 minutes. Works for us like a charm!

Sally, we make pumpkin seeds exactly the same way. I think drying them first makes a difference.

Laurie, this year I got adventurous and tossed with curry powder. Shocking, I know, haha.
