Summer's Here

June Gloom might still have a few tricks up her sleeve, but that doesn't mean things aren't getting bright and colorful around here. Check out my column today at Patch for a celebration of summer in South Pas. It should post sometime today.

Oh I love chalk art!!!! It seems to go on forever in this one. So fun.

Reminds me of when, in the 2nd grade, I was the tallest in the class. Kern McDaniels was the shortest. They had us both lie on white butcher paper and they outlined our bodies and then we got to color in the rest. I hung on the wall for several months! I'm sure Kern is still suffering psychological trauma.

Awwwwwwww.....shades of Paris. I have not been to Paris but have seen pictures of some magnificent works done on walkways, only to be washed away by rain, passersby and time. I do appreciate childrens' art and this is a fine example. Do children play hopscotch anymore?

Who needed the chalk festival in Pasadena this weekend!

Laurie, this and your column are wonderful. It is odd that South Pasadena Patch lets your stories get lost on the website just minutes after they come out and yet they leave the "Blogs" on the front of the site for weeks. I can never find you unless I search, and they should promote you like they used to!

I agree with Gretchen. I've talked to several people who just assume you no longer do a column at South Pasadena Patch.

Thanks, everyone. Gretchen and Anon, I am not sure why Patch is promoting blogs over columnists, but all I can say is thanks for your support! I wish more people saw my columns there, too. It's such a great gig and I've been able to produce multimedia pieces of my own choosing. Not everyone thinks to search for my name, but I appreciate those who do. I always welcome your comments both there and here. (And in email, too!)

In the meantime, you can always find me here! Though, I know, I've been short on words and long on pictures lately here on GOSP. Blame it on a busy spring.

Coming up soon: I will take a few photographic "field trips" to adjoining areas -- our neighbors next to South Pas. I might even do a few videos and post them over at Glancing About, my overflow blog.

I just searched for your latest column over there. When you search for Views from the Front Porch, only one old column comes up. When you search for your name it doesn't go to the column page, either. For what it's worth.

thanks, Anon. I didn't realize a search didn't just go to my column page. I've never searched for myself! In the future, you can always get to my columns by clicking on the giant Patch logo on teh right side of my blog ----->

Thanks again for the support, guys.

If you go to Patch and search "Laurie Allee Columns," you should see all of them there.

Sadly, Patch is not what it promised to be. It's a big disappointment. Why would you write an article about a 14 year-old girl dying if you have no information about the circumstances?

I agree with Mister Earl. Patch has gone downhill since the former editor left.

I would never have known your column by the title of it this week. It didn't sound like your style at all.

I subscribe to Patch and it comes right to my Inbox, but I do have trouble leaving comments.
