All Bark, No Bite

Take a look at the odd bark here. Is this tree cracking up? Is it an oak that has torn its sycamore disguise? Is this what happens when too many dogs mark their territory?

What is up with that trunk?!

I don't know the readers of this blog well enough to say what first popped into my mind. I'll leave it at that.

That's an ornamental eucalyptus. They have very thin bark that sheds every year. They grow very tall with long trunks with all the foilage at the top sort of
like a palm tree. I had one once that was about 50 feet tall. It had one branch that caused the tree to lean and I was afraid it would fall on a shed I'd built. So, I got on the roof with a tree saw and cut the branch which proceeded to fall onto the shed destroying it. That was my best stupid husband story.

I'll say it Judy. It reminds me of a Georgia O'Keefe painting.

Now, for the first time, I fully understand the song, "Georgia On My Mind."

Mister Earl: This has nothing to do with today's post except to say that Laurie and I were extras in a Willie Nelson movie many years ago. I chatted with Willie and he said that he would sing, "Georgia" to me. After shooting had ceased for the night he got back up on the stage and sure enough sang "Georgia." Thanks for the memories.
