As it grows wiser and older...

I wonder about the trees.
Why do we wish to bear
Forever the noise of these
More than another noise
So close to our dwelling place?
We suffer them by the day
Till we lose all measure of pace,
And fixity in our joys,
And acquire a listening air.
They are that that talks of going
But never gets away;
And that talks no less for knowing,
As it grows wiser and older,
That now it means to stay.
My feet tug at the floor
And my head sways to my shoulder
Sometimes when I watch trees sway,
From the window or the door.
I shall set forth for somewhere,
I shall make the reckless choice
Some day when they are in voice
And tossing so as to scare
The white clouds over them on.
I shall have less to say,
But I shall be gone.

Love the lone palm tree in the center, and the poem. At times yesterday the trees were certainly trying to wave the white clouds over them on. I always worry on their behalf when it's windy, hoping their limbs won't detach.

I hope everything is okay with you, Laurie. It seems like your recent posts have had a somewhat despairing theme, even when you are witty. I do tend to analyze everything too much, however. I also don't mind my own business.

This is a beautiful photograph, with such a thoughtful poem. You always put image and words together so well.

You know Frost is my favorite (well, next to Neruda) and this is poignant and fitting.

Stunning image.

A beautiful picture. Yesterday's clouds? The relationship between humans and trees is a worthy subject for reflection.

This morning I woke up early, to the wind in the trees...blowing quite fervently!!! Now it's somewhere in between rain and snow...thicker than rain, but not really snow...
