Settings: Part 32

It's an alley so picturesque it makes me wish I had reason to make a film there. Something with Leonardo DiCaprio in a fedora. Something with a seductive French actress running from an obsessed detective. Something with a psychic homeless woman sitting on a Mexican blanket.

Wait a minute... I'm playing my own favorite game. And that means you all have to play along, too...

If this were the setting for a scene in a movie, what do you think would happen here?

I'm so struck by the red building that I am drawing a blank. I'll leave the creative script writing to the rest of you. I love the perspective and of course the diagonal line of the rooftops.

This picture makes me envision a scene from the 1940’s, something sleazy and dark. Maybe a door that leads to a underground club for mobsters in an alley simply known as “the alley”… a line from a song written by Royal Crown Revue called Trouble in Tinsel Town fits this picture and the scene in my head…
“hustlers roll, beat cops stroll
The city where the night runs deep
Seedy bars, cats in lowered cars
That’s Hollywood while you’re asleep”

Very beautiful shot. I real life this is just an alley, but you've made it seem exciting.

What happens in this alley stays in this alley.

I see clowns. And lots of them. And they are pissed.

Between Judy being stuck on the red building and Mister Earl's, "What happens in this alley stays in this alley", I am at a loss for words.

I just HAVE to add this hilarious scenario emailed to me by thoughtful reader Richard:

"The Doomsday virus was born deep within China, spread rapidly, and soon rendered all computers and digital devices useless.

Photography was so much easier back when we had Photoshop.

The two crouched hidden behind the rusty dumpster, Martin grasping a large chainsaw and Wendy a vintage Canon AE-1 film camera.

"When he walks out of sight, I will saw the pole down," said Martin.

Wendy replied, "I'll try for several quick shots, and then we'll dash for the car before we can get caught!"

You guys know my rule about never editing things out of a shot -- but I never thought of using a chainsaw!

Thanks, Richard. You made me laugh this morning.

this is the beginning of a remake of Starsky and Hutch...they're waiting around the corner, watching for the man walking down the walkway...

Oh, and Anon -- the clowns idea is inspired.

I think there's a crack house there somewhere, but since it is South Pas the crack is sold in lovely heirloom quilted pouches.

Smart Alex, we were separated at birth. I'm convinced. I haven't laughed so hard in forever.

LOVE these, everyone. I'm such a diva director at heart. I just want to demand that you guys come up with great stories for me!

Thanks for playing along.
