Today, let's all celebrate the birthday of a woman who has always taught me to reach for the sky and never look down. (Well, except when climbing palm trees.) Happy, happy, HAPPY Birthday Dixie Jane!
This is for you, Mom! And this, too. (And I couldn't forget this.)
I am humbled by your birthday wishes, Laurie, and four of my favorites singing and dancing for me. Looking back it was heart-wrenching to once again hear from Yakpate. My dearest, Pat, I love you so much.
I feel extremely blessed to have my two daughters, my dear little sister and three grandchildren to help make life worth living. Although I must say, this past year has been challenging. I have a new one coming up. Join me, all Laurie's bloggers. We'll make it really great.
Thank you, Judy. Shades of my singing days. It was a rare segment of my life that I shall always remember. You know, you and your beautiful voice were there too.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my big sister who also taught me to reach for the sky, who gave me the love of a mother and made me part of her special, magical, joyful, singing, dancing family.
Hey, am I too late for cake and champagne??? DJ, I love you Sistah and hope you had a fine fine day. Many hugs to you, you terrific gal you. One day I'm going to meet you and give you the biggest hug around the neck , and then we're going to sit and sip bourbon and talk till the cows come home.
This is what I get for doing my surfing at night--always late to the party. Looks like there's still enough cake to go around, though. Here's to a beautiful year beginning right now. Happy birthday, Dixie Jane!
All these warm wishes, all these lovin' people. It really seems like I had a party and you all came and brought me chocolates to go with the champagne and music and beautiful words. Thank you all so much for being here and being my family and my unseen friends. One day we shall meet and make up for loss time. I love you, each and every one of you.
One more happy birthday wish before the day is over...that you will aways have a heart that keeps on singing with blue skies and kites flying high above!

The History of Glimpses
Glimpses of South Pasadena is 10 years old!
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer.

Thank you Charlie's Coffee House for hosting my photo exhibit, South Pas: Observed. From October 2011 through January 2012 my pictures graced the walls of the best place in town to get a cup of coffee!

Happy Birthday, Dixie Jane! Love seeing your comments every day!
The clips are great. Danny Kaye is a big fave, and Fly Me to the Moon is my travel guide.

Happy Birthday, Dixie Jane! Love you much!
Happy birthday from me too Dixie Jane. This is fabulous reading all your good wishes.
Yes, may the next half of the year be full of good health and wonder (I like wonder; I wouldn't trust anyone who didn't)
Now I know the origin of that "Moses supposes..." so often quoted in our home. Great bit!!!
(It's the third "this" in Laurie's links.)

You say it's your birthday!
It's my birthday too, yeah!
Really!
Happy June 7th Birthday from a South Pasadena reader.
Happy Birthday Dixie Jane! I hope you're having fun there. If you were here, I'd give you a big hug and maybe even a pinch to grow an inch.
Remember the birthday when we danced on the cruise ship? That was such fun. Next time, let's make it Hawaii. It shouldn't be too hard to convince L :)
Russ Allee says: Dixie, your'e the greatest. Thanks for showing us all how to live. Happy Birthday.
