Spring: Sprung

Spring is like a perhaps hand
(which comes carefully
out of Nowhere) arranging
a window, into which people look (while
people stare
arranging and changing placing
carefully there a strange
thing and a known thing here) and

changing everything carefully

spring is like a perhaps
Hand in a window
(carefully to
and fro moving New and
Old things, while
people stare carefully
moving a perhaps
fraction of flower here placing
an inch of air there) and

without breaking anything.

Oh, the California poppy!!! We actually have some of the reddish orange ones here. Love your poem. Spring is by far my favorite season. All of the green. All of the fresh air. YAY!!

Spring is in the air. Your poppy says it. Your beautiful ...ee Cummings poem says it. I say it with some old song lyrics that come to mind:

I love you
Hums the April breeze.
I love you
Echo the hills.
I love you
The golden dawn agrees
As once more she sees
Daffodils.
It's spring again
And birds on the wing again
Start to sing again
The old melody.
I love you,
That's the song of songs
And it all belongs
To you and me.

I didn't realize the California poppy was so interesting up close. Nice shot.

Thanks, everybody!

Mom, I love the lyrics.

What's with the April showers today? I have a New York pal coming to visit, expecting our sunny SoCal weather. Oh well, that means MORE spring flowers, right?

This poppy was so blindingly white in the sunlight, I just had to take a picture. (Even though flower photos are Judy's specialty!)

That is a nice white poppy, and it's in California, but it's not a California poppy. California poppies are our state flower, and they are "golden" or orange. By coincidence, tomorrow, April 6, is California Poppy Day.

Wow, California Poppy Day! I had no idea our state flower had its own day.

Thanks for checking in, everyone! Until tomorrow...

I saw this yesterday as spring was perhaps a hand tipping a water bucket on my house.
