Pretty in Pink

I think it's an old LeBaron. (Not quite this, but definitely in the same family... )

UPDATE: Oops! I meant to say an old LeSabre!

Why?
Something about the composition and THE CAR!:-)

LOVE it. I am thinking Buick. Maybe a Special. I'm trying to research the right year. I'm thinking 65 - 67. I'll report back.

I'm pretty sure it's a 1963 Buick Special. I tried to link to the brochure online but it went to the main page and it might be too hard to try and find it. These cars were considered small at the time, when so many other cars were "boats."

Love the pink. :)

Love the color. That hill in the background I think is the one that was in jeopardy of sliding down when we had a bad winter a few years ago.

I sang Pink Cadillac at our last gig at Cafe 322, only we changed it to Green Cadillac becuse it was St. Paddy's day.

Judy, our family had a 1956 Buick Special. It was dark green and white. Very nice car.

One time I happened upon an all-Buick car show in front of Pasadena City Hall. They had the different models together. So there were 5 or 6 mid-50s Specials, and 5 or 6 nice Riviera's etc. Only time I've ever seen a show devoted to just one brand of car.

Wait... I think it's a LeSabre. check this out:

1963 Buick LeSabre

My parents had a silver and black Skylark with a Wildcat engine when I was right out of high school. It had a three speed on the column and it would even go from a dead stop in 2nd gear. I wish we still had it. I think it was a 65 or 66.

I'm not sure of the model, but it's a definitely a Buick. The faux portholes on the front fenders give it away. The body style most closely resembles a '63 Chevy so I think Judy's right on the year. My grandfather sold Buicks in the '50s and later Pontiacs at Harry Maher Pontiac on Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood. Perhaps this pink lady is owned by a retired Mary Kay salesperson. She never got to the level where she got a pink Cadillac for her sales and had to settle for a Buick.

That's the sliding hill, Mr. Earl. There's still blue tarp semi-protecting the hillside to the right of this shot.

For much of their history there were only subtle differences between Buicks and Oldsmobiles. As db points out, the 3 whats-its on the side were a standard Buick feature for years.

Back in the 50s they put 3 fake exhaust ports on the fender. It seemed cool then, dumb now.

Everyone discusses the model/year. I want to know why it is pink? A Mary Kay cosmetic seller of the year owns it??? WHY PINK?

WV: obstete. Isn't that like obsolete?

Oops. It was late when I posted and I meant to write LeSabre but LeBaron came out. Even I thought it was a Buick -- and I know almost nothing about old cars. One of these days I'll actually LOOK when I take a picture of these things!!!

Isn't that the best pink? The baseball diamond, the park and soccer fields next to this car were, as far as I could see, empty. So, I have no idea who had been driving the Pink Lady.

I think it's probably just a custom paint job. I think it's GREAT. Whew, at least you confirmed that it is indeed a LeSabre. WHEW!!

DW- I sold Pontiacs for 4 years in the 80's when there weren't very many women doing it. It worked out ok - I met my husband that way. :)

When I was in very early elementary school, I used to draw cars with big fins...a bit before this fine car's time!!!

Judy - Did your husband drive on in a new Pontiac, or just with you?

All this car talk confuses me. Now I have to enlarge the damn car and see the fender thing and I thought those what its were some kind of exhaust thingies but you know I was only half listening back then. Sort of like now!!!

Now Mr.E, what is this about singing Pink Cadillac?? I'll be expecting a reprise of that!

"Well way back in the Bible, temptations always come along. There's always somebody tempting, someone into doing, something they know is wrong...

They say Eve tempted Adam with an apple. Well, I ain't goin' for that. I know it was her Pink Cadillac..."

Oh I love Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac!"

DW- I sold cars, then hubby came on board as another salesman. Well... the rest is history.

I guess it was the headless palm that caught my attention

Judy, I linked to Pink Cadillac in the post! And Mister E, I thought of you!

Pasadena Adjacent, that palm disturbed me, too...

DUH, I didn't notice the link cause I was too busy trying to figure out what year and make that car was. HA
