Settings: Part 22

Okay, everybody, it's time for another round of my favorite game. If this mysterious private drive were the setting for a scene in a movie ... what would happen here?

It's 1959 and Connie and Doug are cruising around in his Dad's Chevrolet Biscayne. There are early signs of spring as well as early signs of love between the two of them. As they curve around the bend, knowing it's someone's property because of the newly tied tree and mailbox, they throw caution to the wind because they love an adventure. To their surprise and delight, the lake cabin beyond the trees is abandoned for the day. There's a canoe. The sun is setting. It's a time for romance. . . .

But they didn't notice the gathering storm clouds in the western sky....

The reclusive novelist did everything to protect his privacy: a house out of sight of neighbors, an unmarked mailbox, and a long nondescript drive to discourage prying eyes. "No one will know my business now," he thought. Unfortunately, he had moved to South Pasadena...

This reminds me of an old World War I song that my Dad used to sing. Not sure what would happen here but I give you the chorus of the old song:

There's a long, long trail a winding
Into the land of my dreams
Where the nightingales are singing
And the white moon beams
There's a long, long night of waiting
Until my dreams all come true
Till the day that I'll be going
Down that long, long trail with you.

Unfortunately for Doug and Connie, they were mistaken when they assumed the cabin was vacant for the day. They didn't see the reclusive novelist walking back from the woods after a mid-morning stroll. They first realized he was there when they smelled his pipe tobacco wafting in the breeze. They made eye contact and Connie detected a look of rage in the novelist's expression....

And the axe in his hand.

WV: Unril. This is getting more and more unril.

R2-D2 was NOT happy about wearing drag in the 13th episode of Star Wars... but when Wardrobe promised he could keep his turquoise headpiece after the shoot, he took the part.

Hey Richard: Can we call this movie The Great Lidzbarski?

And did they ever make it into the canoe?

You guys are on a roll today. And here I thought we'd go for something Waltons-esque.

It's a trap. That string is clearly attached to a snare. And the mailbox is really a camera.
