Wind at Your Back

This is the view you'd glimpse if you rode your bike along the Arroyo toward the Rose Bowl. It's something my husband loves to do. And since today is his birthday, I thought he could get a head start on his weekend ride...

Happy, happy, happy birthday, Jon!

Happy Birthday, Jon! Yes, I was going to say that it look like one of those postcards of the Old West.

Happy Birthday son-in-law. I hope you get to make your favorite ride and enjoy this splendid view.

Thank you Sweetie!

This photo captures just what it feels like riding towards the Rose Bowl and the mountains. Free. Like anything can happen and it's going to be something good.

You know, I love riding back the other way even more though. That feels like something else you've often shown us. Coming home.

Have a great day, Jon! Glad to hear you still get out on your bike as a father. Something I'm trying to comprehend in the coming months.

Hi there, been (silently) keeping up with your site for a while. I'm a new photoblogger -- I just got approved for City Daily Photo -- the other day, and as a funny note... out of the four Pasadena sites, three of them have pictures of sun/weather. It's a fun little gallery if you do a "pasadena" search on that site. :)

I really enjoy this blog, even though I haven't ever left a comment. It is a pleasure to see your phenomenal photography and read your terrific writing. A rare talent to be able to do both. I also enjoy little "glimpses" into your own life and reading the comments from your sisters and mother. This is much more than a daily photography blog, really is like a community. Nice work.

Oh and happy birthday to John, too!!!

Hi everyone,

Welcome klikkonthis! The San Gabriel Valley community of photobloggers is great. Don't miss out on Altadena HIker, Pasadena Adjacent, Altadena Daily Photo, Gem City Images and Cafe Pasadena -- just to name a few!

Ben, as I'm sure Jon will tell you, the bike rides ARE fewer when the new baby comes along, but it's worth it. (ANd just wait until your bundle is old enough for her first bike!)

Welcome, Margie! Thanks for the kind words.

And now for a little blogging PDA -- Jon, I love the way you put things. Your comment was like a present to ME! XOXOXOXOXO

klikkonthis, I forgot to include Finnegan Begin Again -- brilliant prose from a fabulously witty South Pasadena writer. Make sure to check out my links!

I love the contrast of the palm tree and the snow. Only in Southern California!

Happy Belated Birthday Jon!!!

Yes...this has the earmarks of a vintage photo...great shot Laurie, and excellent post production!!!!

Thanks, CHieftess! But there was almost no editing of this image. I barely even cropped it. Fujifilm cameras have a great setting that mimics old Disney Chrome colors. I used it here and then pushed color saturation by ten percent. That's it!

And here I thought klikonthis was some kind of Greek name!

WV: sculasi - Some kind of Scottish Arabic thing.

Well, Laurie...the effects are simply mahvelous!!!

Chieftess: What are we doing on the computer so early on a Saturday morning?

WV: revart - that's what that photo is - from the school of "revart".

Mr E...I prefer to think of it as late at night...morning shouldn't be allowed to begin until after 9am!!!
