No Valet

I couldn't resist returning to this noirish spot for a study in black and white. I can imagine Orson Welles lurking behind one of those brick columns...

Orson Welles? I picture Robert Mitchum wearing a rumpled suit and a dark fedora walking out of the driveway and pausing to light a cigarette.

Ah yes, Mitchum is good, too. I was thinking of Welles a la Touch of Evil ...

He lurked more in The Third Man.

I never knew Public Parking could be so ominous. :) As you well know, this is my favorite style of your work. The lights, the angles, the perspective. YES YES!!

Maybe a scratchy torch song is playing in the background.

Robert Mitchum is good... I was thinking Sam Spade. And the ciggies and scotch, YES! With undetermined laughter (from a woman, of course) in the background. Excellent photo!!!

A good study of a noirish spot and a reminder of how fearful I am of parking garages. I've seen too many movies with exploding cars and machine guns. Yet in the corner, in the disabled zone, you may find a parked sleigh and reminders of reindeer. After all, Santa needs a rest after travelling the world in one night.

So bear with me. I've got something that is on my mind this time of year:

'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house,
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse,
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
'til all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie.....not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have fruit cake or crackers or dip,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm tired, every corner a chore. But isn't that what January is for?

Christmas now stilled, all is too quiet,
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

I wish Orson was. Love him

Dixie...if you borrow my tooth brush those holiday calories won't be an issue.

Hey gang!

Welcome, afv!

I love shooting monochrome night photography more than anything else. Thanks so much for the great comments. With all the wonderful streetlamps, bricks, cracked sidewalks and shadowy doorways, South Pas is a great nocturnal subject. And don't you love neon?

Dixie Mom, you CRACKED me up with your poem! And Virg, the Orson line was funny, too. Such a clever bunch you are, people.

Til tomorrow...
