Sturm and Drain...

The greater Los Angeles area woke up to a surprise storm yesterday. It still alternately drips and roars as I write this at 12:45AM. How nice to think of something tamping down whatever might be left of fire season...

My four year old daughter pointed out today's picture. Nothing like a preschooler to educate you in the many-faceted wonder of puddles. "Look at that!" She said, pointing at the wet street. "The clouds are making mirrors on the ground and putting watercolor paints in them."

Indeed!

My little four year old granddaughter has the right handle on it. She is so creative even when it comes to a rain-swept street......finding the magic when there would otherwise be none.

It's a fairy's water pastel painting!!! There's something so magical about reflections!!

That's one smart cookie you've got there. Indeed it does look like watercolors!

Awesome. Like some kind of a fairyland party on ice with balloons.

Actually, this shot looks like a psychedelic hybrid of a water color painted with a pointillism technique.I LOVE all the pink and lavender dots in the foreground. And those color-opposite splashes of orange and flamingo are probably debris floating on the puddle, and they add to the magic!

Your daughter will wonder, as she grows older, if she should focus on one of her myriad talents, or excel in all.

Wonder if daughter will inherit mom's knack for the turn of phrase.

Drang that's pointillicious! But wait! There's more! Furtive figures lurking from another dimension...
