Settings: Part 12

Some shots require a little exposition! You guys know the drill...

It's time to play my favorite armchair moviemaker game. If this were the setting of a scene in a film, what would happen here?

My creative juices are not flowing this morning. I see this being the backside of a backlot of a newly abandoned film studio. As the final production group left, two guys thought it funny to stick two remaining flags and have Joseph's cutout peeking out of the bushes, guarding the port-a-potty.

wv: lowayer: the scuzzy ambulance chasing lawyers who are indeed "lower" than the scum of the earth.

Young man walks on. Looks around with a worried look.

Young Man: Joseph? Joseph, you here?

Rustling from the bushes. Cardboard cut out disappears from view.

A ladder appears out of the bushes followed by another young man.

Joseph: Hey bro.

Young Man: I really don't think this is a good idea.

Joseph: I've got to fix the flag, with any luck Mom and Dad'll be back this weekend.

Young Man: Not the flag, that! [pointing]

Pull back to reveal the exposed framing of an older house. The interior of the house can be seen through a very large hole.

Joseph: [Grins and starts to say something but turns to look at...]

Very beautfilul woman passing by: This will look great on the blog! [ snaps a picture ].

wv - nomas : Winter holiday created by Richard Dawkins and Roberto Duran.

She bought the summer cottage two years ago, when the market was peaking. It had no bedrooms, no kitchen, no basement, but the bathroom was a two-seater.

Friends preferred to meet her in town. But she didn't care. The American Dream was never one size fits all.

You are looking at South Pasadena's industrial strength tree fertilization system. It's a service provided by South Pasadena to residents to help keep the canopy of trees healthy and happy. The system is installed temporarily at the base of a mature tree to promote growth during the summer months.

The system has done its work at this site. I drove by today and the fertilization system is no longer there, no doubt to another hungry tree.

If you look carefully at this photo you will see the the City inspector, cleverly disguised as St. Francis of Assisi, hiding in the bushes underneath the flags. When I drove by today, Frank was still there inspecting his little heart away.

If the house is rockin' don't come a-knockin'!

You captured the rhythm, AH!

Soldier exits the porta-potty, grabs the American flag and heads back to the recruitment center to sit inside.

Code Pink chick exits the porta-potty, grabs the pink-bordered flag and heads back to the recruitment center to protest outside.

As the scene fades to black, the audience is left wondering what they were doing in the porta-potty together in the first place.

Hmmm...

Pretty fancy surroundings for a porta-john(ette).

Just wondering why the other flag is lowered....but then again, location, location, location...perhaps it just wilted from the odor.

Ann, you really should write screenplays...

I adore you people. Until tomorrow!

I'm pretty curious as to the going's on between the soldier and the code pink chick...

Me too!

The other flag is lower, because the U.S. flag should be the highest in a group, or on it's right. Also, the other flag is a blue star flag- with two stars, meaning that family has two loved ones serving. Just more context for the creative grist mill.
