Just love the way the palm is framed.

Good eye Laurie.
This reminds of of a fireworks shooting up and
exploding against the blue sky.

I usually forget to look up but when I do I'm
always amazed at what I'm missing.
Glad to see this was a daytime shot. LOL!

Beautiful palm tree, perfectly rounded. I like Double "D"s idea of a fireworks display. Once again, I grew up in South Texas with palm trees and I get nostalgic when I visit So. Calif. There is something so South Sea Island about them---girls in sarongs, men with spears. I've seen too many movies.

Beautiful!!! Reminded me of a sunburst...I also like DD's liking it to fireworks...I had the sense of it exploding when I first saw it! Nicely done Laurie!!!

What an amazing vantage point! I agree, I need to look up more often too! Maybe it is time to paint palm trees!

What grabs me first is the symmetry of the shot. Centering a subject doesn't always work but this is perfect. I really like how the blue encompasses the mighty palm. So pretty!! Almost as if you shot this with a fish-eye lens!

What a great shot! The framing is perfect. Looks like the tree has recently been trimmed, must have known its photo was about to be taken.

Looking down at shadows, looking up at the underbellies of the palms... your creative eye takes us on a carnival ride!

Isn't it interesting how you can tell the drought years by the palm's wasp waist? I'm off to Westchester to photograph "Palmus Electronicus". Cell phone tower palms

That's magic!

Striking photo! I love how the foliage around the edges frame the palm tree perfectly.

Wow, thanks everyone.

Welcome Jodie!

I have my artistic little girl to thank for this shot. Our family was walking up to the Farmer's Market and she said, "Stop! Look at how those other trees are trying to hug that palm tree!"

Indeed.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, and hugging lots of trees in this nice weather. Until tomorrow...

It's like all the foliage around the palm moved aside to give room for this photo.
