Jam tomorrow... (Or at least coming soon)

Reflections in a window give the illusion of another world within the frame ... and actually, a new dimension is coming to this empty space on Mission Street. I'll give you a hint with this verse from Through the Looking Glass:

A loaf of bread, the Walrus said,
Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed --
Now if you're ready, Oysters, dear,
We can begin to feed!

That's right, South Pas will soon have a new bakery. (O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!)

I love illusions...and allusions.

Anytime you say bakery, I perk up. This is fabulous with the reflection of the guy walking on the street. VERY NICE.

Terrific photo . . . and I'm also very excited about the bakery. It looks like they're moving fast to get it open.

"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.

Laurie, I knew you'd land on my favorite poem sooner or later. And such a photo!

I attended the South Pasadena Chamber mixer last Thursday for coffee--Great Harvest Bakery provided the scrumptious pastries! Looking forward to the wonderful smell of fresh bread right out of the oven, right into my childhood memories of passing the Holsum Bakery in Phx.

The photo is like a Christmas present under the tree waiting to be opened.

I wonder if dey gonna have apple pie in dat bakery? I hope their bakers aren't "too cute to cook." What a great line from Dixie Jane yesterday. Reminds me of that song "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife..." Which includes the line, "She's ugly but she sure can cook!"

As far as I'm concerned, I don't need no new bakery. Food to me is like booze to an alcoholic. Telling me there's a new bakery is like telling me there's a new bar going in. I came to work yesterday morning and there were pieces of cake on plates with forks all lined up on a table in the breakroom. To me it looked like a bunch of martinis all lined up. Working in my office is like working in a bar.

Now I feel "hoackled." (WV)

Have you tried Union Bakery at Monterey and Fair Oaks? Wally and Jun have a nice little spot. It smells like a bakery should when you walk in and they have great sandwiches at lunch. There's also a fairly new one in the Mission-Meridian Village complex that's good. You can't have too many bakeries in town.

I like Mr.Earl's comparison of pieces of cake to martinis. Perhaps the new shop owner will bake a Cosmopolitan Cake. It could be a good seller.

Thanks, everyone! I'll be sure to keep you all posted as this new bakery comes to be.

DB, you reminded me that I need to visit Union Bakery. (My daughter is already a big fan of My Sweet Cupcake on Mission!)

Til tomorrow...

We went to Eddie Park today (5-24-09) based on a random google search for great parks near our house, and it found your post from 2008. I'm so glad to have found your blog.
