Flowers and a Fast Car

Need a shot of gleeful optimism during a dreary news cycle? Check out this mood elevator: a classic sports car parked next to a ridiculously pink sloping lawn. There's no way swine flu or a bad economy could possibly get close to this scene without transforming into disco butterflies and flying off into the sunset.

My old car series always surprises me.

Are those flowers, weeds,...?

Interesting concept "mood elevator." Could one say, "My mood elevator doesn't go all the way to the top"? Or could one say, "My mood elevator goes up and down?" I would like to see the car painted the color of the gound cover. I'd load that into my mood elevator for sure. "Going up!"

That car looks like the Lone Ranger - who is that masked man, or should I say, masked car?

It appears to be an early 70's Camaro wearing a cheap bra.

That's ice plant, B-Squared. A popular succulent ground cover that looks spectacular in the Spring.

No, it's a 70 something Pontiac Firebird. Although Smokey and the Bandit made the Trans Am the car du jour, it never had the staying power of the Camaro. Kind of sad that GM with all of its financial woes, won't be making Pontiacs any more, although they haven't put much on the table in the past few years. Remember when I sold them, Laurie?? haha Seems a thousand years ago. What I love about this is the pink line leading right to the white car. Great composition.

I still want a white 71 Lemans or GTO. :~)

What's the clue, Judy, that it's a Firebird? I recognized the rear fender as either a Firebird or Camaro and went with Camaro becuase there were more of them. And, there's no huge bird on the hood. Remember when it seemed like all the 70's Firebirds were black with a hawk or eagle on the hood? There's also no insignia that I could find. So how'd you tell - headlights perhaps?

That is beautiful shot.

Striking shot. The lavender-colored field is spectacular. Love it.

It's a Firebird (Camaro had different headlights).

Well, Laurie, I can easily imagine myself in this picture - the mood elevator is working :) Now I have to take my Camaro for a drive tomorrow.

Happy May Day. For you, I've just tucked in a new lavender plant. Here's what it brings:

In the Middle Ages it was believed that couples who place lavender flowers between their bedsheets would never fight.

(I'm sure some nights require more lavender than others.)

I have a little assignment for you to do, and another super secret one (heh!) Right here: http://mllegramophone.wordpress.com/2009/05/01/make-up-or-make-out/Don't sweat it, you could fill it with haiku in the middle og the night--then add some weird noir shot of a South Pas back alley. I don't know-don't kill me.

I don't know much about cars but I sure do love flowers. That bed looks like the shape started out to be Texas and ended up almost Nevada. I'm not good at geography either. How wonderful to live in a place with beautiful flowers year 'round. What a nice tribute to May Day.

Hi everybody,

I knew I could count on you guys to figure out the model of this car! It didn't have any identifying words or insignias -- but what a gorgeous pearly paint job.

I love the fact that all of the twenties-fifties cars seem to be parked in the parts of South Pas with the old, historic homes ... while all of the sixties/seventies sports and muscle cars have been found in the Altos with all of the sixties/seventies architecture. Like I've said before, I think I have a cosmic art director. (Thanks, up there!)

Miss H, you intrigue me with your challenge. I'm off to find out the details.

Altadenahiker, happy May Day to you! Thanks for planting lavender -- one of my favorites. English or French? I love the lore behind lavender under the mattress.

Hello again honza03! I'm jealous that you have a Camaro!

B-squared, DB answered about the pink posies. They really are spectacular this time of year. The rest of the year, they look like basic run-of-the-mill succulant low ground cover. Then spring comes along and BAM! They explode in a psychedelic wonderment of color. I love California.

ANd I love all of you. Thanks for the lovely words today, all. Until tomorrow...

I love the new profile picture too - IT'S the REAL YOU!
It was really great to meet you.

Had to take yesterday off---food poisoning made me MIA.

At first blush, I'd have said Camaro (I owned a 72). But then I looked at the front lights (parking lights are a giveaway) and the grill and realized under that cheap bra, it's got to be a Firebird. Amazing they spent serious bux on the wheels and is seems the tires too, but maybe $40 on the bra. Maybe they are trying to pretend it's a Camaro?

The pink is a type of succulent. Can't remember the name of it, but if you've ever been to Monterey/Carmel about this time of year, it is EVERYWHERE. A darn good use for that hill, as opposed to the rat infested ivy many in the Altos have planted.

Dunno how you manage to find all these old cars!

It looks like a Firebird, and from us former Camaro owners (mine was '73) Firebirds were 'wanabes', LOL. Camaro just had a cooler name and a better looking body style.
