Waiting up...

I always wonder about the lights in houses when it's late and everyone else is sleeping. Teething baby? Broken heart? Missed curfew? Midnight snack? Page-turning novel?

Maybe it's just another tireless blogger staying up too late working on a post.

Or maybe somebody afraid of the dark LOL.

I'm thinking that with the location of the window, maybe someone is either up getting an aspirin or glass of milk in the kitchen, or perhaps burning the midnight oil working on an overdue project. Someone is sitting behind that illuminated window at a table with their laptop, a pot of coffee, and a very tired face.

What strikes me most about this photo, other than the story, is the wonderful composition. I love the mix of the light in the mid upper left juxtaposed with all of the lines and angles of the house. NICE CAPTURE.

Regardless of what your neighbours are doing late at night, you are doing good work with your camera. Bravo!

There's a sense of comfort when I see someone else is up and about. Studying? Overseas phone call? The clapper?

Another starburst shot... I love those!

But I don't like those motion-detection house lights that turn on automatically. I'm sure they have their uses in crime prevention. But they always make me imagine frightened homeowners huddled inside, watching re-runs of Cops. Somehow, they seem unnecessary in South Pasadena.

If they're anything like me they fell asleep with the lights on and the Television going.

Looks very dire to me. I'm thinking sad news in the middle of the night.

In the past two weeks, we've twice reconsidered calling friends late at night, not wanting to wake them up. And then we remembered they had both recently lost their jobs, and didn't need to wake up early in the morning anymore. Egads.

Hopefully, this is just a teenager out too late!

Oh it's a teenager out too late, that's why the light is on. Dad's asleep ( or 3 states away) , Mom's up watching every car come down the street. Mad as hell and scared out of her wits. Been there, done that a few too many times.

PS Super photograph LA. You've been hanging around K too long! HA

It's the night people...

I don't know if I believe in the night people, but I know there are some who do...

Hi everybody!

I love all the interpretations of this photo. (And high five to the Hiker for coming up with The Clapper.)

Thanks for so many kind words. All of you regular GOSP readers know that I love night photography. I'm always happy when you like one of my late prowling shots.

Mister Earl, I don't know if I believe in the night people. Wait. I AM a night person! :-)

Until tomorrow...
