Mint Condition

I'm fairly certain I've never seen another English-style cottage painted this shade of green. I smile every time I drive past it. (Daring to color outside the lines always make me happy.)

At 6;05AM I am not responsible for what I am about to say. Blame insomnia. Up since 4:30AM. I bet if you gave this mint green stucco a lick it would taste slightly medicinal, maybe like a cough drop. The man inside has the flu and this is his way of telling the neighbors, "BRING ME SOME CHICKEN SOUP!"

The mint green paint and the blue roof make this look so refreshing!

When this house was for sale, the realtor's sign said, "Eat this House!"

I wasn't thinking of this yesterday, but after reading the final comments, I realized that there's an Artists' Inn Bed and Breakfast in South Pasadena, and they even have a Van Gogh Room and a Gauguin Suite! So don't tell me these guys didn't live here!

Dixie Jane, your comment makes me want to eat cake... come to think of it, EVERYTHING makes me want to eat cake!

I defy anyone to live in this house and not feel out-of-the-box happy.

Let's see... red velvet? German chocolate? Apple caramel walnut?

I like the light down the middle, you bawdy, idle headed baggage. (K never should have shown us that toy; never ever ever.)

Good for you .... I am glad you smile everytime you drive by it. Because everytime I drive by it I think to myself "those poor neighbors ... how can they stand the color of that house!"

I think if you lick it, it will taste like mint ice cream. HA - Pat, I love that everything makes you want to eat cake - I'm definitely on the same page.

This image made me smile before I even read any comments. The cool side of the color palette is certainly represented well here. It feels refreshing indeed!!

Mr. Earl's comment made me chuckle.

little house so fresh and green
nothing like I've ever seen
trees embrace its minty hue
adding to the lovely view

Some work, some don't. This seems to work nicely.

Mister Earl,

Thank you for the link to The Artist's Cottage Bed & Breakfast Inn. How delightful. I'm afraid I would have a hard time sleeping in Gaugin's Suite though. It is a little too wild for restful slumber. Everyone, take the time to visit these rooms. What a treat.

It looks like a fairy tail cottage, especially under those big old pines.

When I see a house in an unusual color like that I always wonder if they mistranslated the paint chip or were hungry for mint choc. chip ice cream.

I like it too but what do I know? I'm a reeky, onion-eyed fustilarian.

When my daughter was in preschool she made a map of all the pink houses. We appreciate them to this day. :)

Anyone who licks houses is a warped, reeling-ripe scut.

reminds me vaguely of a house on Oaklawn---but it certainly wasn't painted mint chocolate chip green---did the baskin robins ship a couple of gallons over the wall to OSH (the old OLE's) and get a paint match?!?!?!

Or are you prepping for Tuesday's festivities?

In my neck of the woods we always called them "Florida" houses, or SoBe houses---colors or styles that would fit in WELL in South Beach or somewhere in Florida, but certainly not in SoPas. Ugh!

Certainly, of all the bad things to do to a house---mint green?!?!! Then again, neighbors a few years ago, painted a house what I called "The 50-50 bar" color. White with neon orange trim. And I do mean NEON. OMG...made me hungry and nauseous all at the same time!

Like painting brick, I do not enjoy the SoBe houses...but to each his own, as long as it isn't near my house or painted ala Madonna's was a few years back.

Hey all!

Thanks for all the comments and conversation today. And for those of you who may have been confused by some of the colorfully insulting language in some comments ... our friend Kevin over at The Jimsonweed Gazette introduced us to the Shakespeare Insult Generator during a wonderful series of comments about curse words over at Altadenahiker's blog yesterday. As weird wordy types, we have all gone a little bit looney with it. (Do check it out!)

And thanks for checking out my mint fantasy cottage today. I love it ... but I almost always love unconventional things.

Until tomorrow!

Oh so sorry, Dixie Jane, I never meant to offend. This is an example of how tone of voice often doesn't come across in the typed word. I'm so sorry if I hurt your feelings. I do think the house looks flavorful. Laurie linked to the game we were playing, and you can see examples of it in the comments by Altadenahiker, -K- and me.
