Sentry

Although many of his relatives are prone to wandering about... this little guy seems content to stay right where he is.

UPDATE: Looks like some of his friends regret leaving Southern California...

He's adorable and I love those shadows and that soft green background.

I like the house's owner already! :)

This little guy should jump down and rake the leaves and mow the grass.

Oh, and look at his imposing shadow. He probably wandered away as soon as you left.

He is smitten with love for Saint Latrine, and wondering why she hasn't returned his postcards!

This photo is so color balanced it looks art-directed! Love the way the elf's colors reflect the leaves and grass, and that beautiful bare-branch shadow. AND your roving eye!

We have St. Latrine guarding the bathroom and a gnome guarding the gas meter. Who is guarding the front door?

Some folks get quirky. They wear it proudly. Good for them!

His hat screws off, and that's where the teenager of the house hides his weed stash.

Dude, let's go "visit the gnome", heh heh heh ...

SDF---so THAT's where it hides! GREAT idea, smoke by the gas meter! boom!

I personally think the little guy is hiding, so he isn't taken for an interesting ride to a different locale!

Either that or getting shelter from the heavy rains yesterday. omg! Have you people lost your minds on how to drive through this?

Oh I have a roaming gnome that comes out at Christmas. Maybe they could be pals.

Mr. Gnome, keeper of the gas pipe. (that weed reference still has me chuckling)

How did you get that meter to stay there?

i want another shot when this fella is dripping with ice!

He's got it "made in the shade" - well, almost. Very cute. Is it really in Amelie that the gnome was a sub-plot. I thought it was a different movie.

He was also in The Full Monty. I still say his acting is too stiff.

this little guy is hearing all this discussion of what his purpose in life is and he's thinking; keep guessing, cause if i told you, the fairy folk will intervene... and you DONT want that! sj

Hee! That is a good catch.

Hey all,

Just another everyday shot from South Pas! Next up: gremlins and fairies...

I had forgotten the subplot in Amelie, but always think of The Full Monty when I see one of these little guys. Also, I vaguely remember the line in Elf where someone said that gnomes couldn't work for Santa because they drank too much. Although if San Diego Farmgirl is right, it might be due to even more substance abuse...

Thanks for all the great comments today, everyone. Til tomorrow!

Hooray, I rembered my user name and password!

Well, looks like the little guy is a birder! Holding a pair of binoculars in his right hand and a lost baby bird in his left, he looks a bit sad and worried looking skyward for its mother.

This is his favorite place to spot the birds of San Gabrial Valley. He hates it when the meter man comes around!
